Manganese flake production stabilizes and Taiwan’s ferroalloy import proportion increases significantly

The average spot price of electrolytic manganese (main production area) fell back at the end of January, and the trend remained stable in February. The price remained the same month-on-month and decreased by approximately 19.48% year-on-year. Prices continued to weaken in March. As of March 13, prices had fallen by approximately 1.61% during the month.
Entering March, all manganese plants still maintain 70% of their production capacity. However, due to poor market conditions, the resumption of production plans of some suspended manganese plants may be delayed. Taking into account the increase in the number of natural months in March, the overall monthly supply of the manganese market has turned to increase. According to the manganese plant production scheduling survey, the output in March is expected to be approximately 92,300 tons.
Taiwan steel news media reported that recently, due to the obstruction of Nippon Steel's second acquisition of U.S. steel, production and exports have been affected, so productivity has been put into Taiwanese steel plants. As a result, the output of Taiwanese steel plants has increased in a short period of time, and China's raw material exports will also have the same effect. Proportional increase
