Chinese Silicon Metal exporters are cautiously optimistic about the outlook

Supported by firm prices in China, the mainstream export price of Chinese Silicon Metal 4-4-1 remains steady at USD 1,650-1,700/MT FOB China, unchanged from the start of the week. Most exporters are optimistic about the outlook, raising prices for forward orders and securing some volume at prices above the spot market. Industry insiders expect the export price of Chinese Silicon Metal 4-4-1 to increase next week.
"I am currently quoting USD 1,650/MT FOB China for Silicon Metal 4-4-1. After receiving a bid of USD 1,630/MT from a buyer, I sold 60 MTs at USD 1,650/MT for prompt shipment on Friday and wouldn’t accept less than USD 1,650/MT on Monday either," a trader from Fujian disclosed. He added that he also sold 100 MTs of Silicon Metal 4-4-1 at USD 1,700/MT CIF Japan on Friday, with a freight charge of USD 20/MT, for late November shipment. Despite sluggish overseas demand, he expects a slight increase in China’s export price for Silicon Metal 4-4-1 next week, citing reduced supply from South China as a contributing factor. The trader’s regular monthly trading volume of Silicon Metal is around 800 MTs, with an expected sales volume of around 500 MTs for October, down by approximately 300 MTs from the previous month, and he holds no inventory.
Another trader from Fujian revealed that he sold 100 MTs of Silicon Metal 4-4-1 at USD 1,720/MT CIF Japan on Friday, including a freight charge of USD 20/MT, for late November delivery. Additionally, he sold 60 MTs at USD 1,660/MT FOB China for prompt shipment on Friday and is unwilling to accept less than USD 1,660/MT for prompt shipments on Monday. "Supported by high production costs in China and reduced supply from Yunnan, I believe the export price of Chinese Silicon Metal 4-4-1 will see a slight increase next week, despite sluggish overseas demand," the trader revealed. His regular monthly trading volume of Silicon Metal is around 1,000 MTs, with an expected sales volume of about 600 MTs for October, down by around 300 MTs from the previous month, and he keeps minimal inventory.
