Australia's Element 25 may restart manganese ore production

Element 25 is considering restarting production at its flagship Butchebird asset due to a surge in premium raw material prices. In addition, the company's management is exploring the possibility of selling or processing and subsequently selling the accumulated manganese piles. If technically feasible, these activities will be carried out in parallel with and will not affect the expansion plans of the Butcherbird project.
"With manganese ore prices so high, the potential restart of Butcherbird processing operations could be an ideal opportunity to monetize existing reserves and generate short-term cash flow," said Justin Brown, Managing Director of Element 25.
We recall that the company stopped manganese ore production in early 2024 due to low prices and the need to carry out production enhancement work. The purpose of the modernization is to increase Butcherbird's manganese concentrate production to 1.1 million tons per year. At the same time, the company intends to become a low-cost producer with costs estimated at $2.76/t Mn.
