Malaysia’s overall steel billet export volume increased in 2023
From September 2023 to 2024-02-04, Malaysia's steel billet export volume was 100,698.07 metric tons, compared with 66,275.50 metric tons in the same period last year and 109,395.53 metric tons last month, a year-on-year increase of 51.94% and a month-on-month decrease of 7.95%.
Malaysia's steel billet export value in September 2023 was US$60,628,000.00, compared with US$33,600,000.00 in the same period last year and US$70,814,000.00 last month, a year-on-year increase of 80.44% and a month-on-month decrease of 14.38%. The average export price was US$602.08/metric ton, compared with US$506.97/metric ton in the same period last year and US$647.32/metric ton last month. From January to September 2023, Malaysia exported a total of 978,024.46 metric tons of steel billets, compared with 825,605.31 metric tons in the same period last year, a year-on-year increase of 18.46%. The export proportion of steel billets increased and the use of raw materials increased with the same increase in output, which further reflects the importance of Malaysian steel to the world.
