China's ferrosilicon production in September decreased by 0.4% month on month

The production of ferrosilicon (FeSi) in 136 Chinese smelters surveyed on a monthly basis decreased slightly in September, following the growth recorded in the previous two months. The total production decreased by 0.4% month on month to 468500 tons. Sampling smelters have 95% of China's ferrosilicon smelting capacity.
According to the Hainan West Asia Group survey, on a daily basis, the average output of ferrosilicon from sampled smelters in China last month was 15617 tons/day, an increase of 446 tons/day or 2.9% compared to the previous month. This is undoubtedly due to the fewer days in September.
The results indicate that due to the rebound in ferroalloy prices and good profit margins on ferrosilicon sales, the production of several domestic ferrosilicon smelters remained at a high level in September.
With the high start-up rate of manufacturers, the survey shows that as of September 28th, the inventory of ferrosilicon held by 60 smelters was 67450 tons, an increase of 3830 tons from the end of August. These smelters have approximately 80% of the domestic ferrosilicon smelting capacity.
This month, with the strengthening of ferrosilicon prices, China's ferroalloy production is expected to remain high. In addition, the increase in bidding prices of major steel producers has also boosted domestic market sentiment and encouraged ferrosilicon smelters to maintain operating rates.
