Taiwan: Ferro alloys imports rise 73% m-o-m in Apr'23

According to data received by Hainan West Asia, Taiwan's ferroalloy imports increased by 73% from 22,181 tons in March 2023 to 38,324 tons in April 2023. 



Silico manganese: Imports rose from 7,448 t in March to 11,132 t in April, a 49% rise m-o-m. Exports from India, at 8,808 t, saw a monthly increase of 123%. It was also the country from where the largest volume of imports took place, followed by Malaysia with 2,123 t.
However, cumulative imports over January-April, 2023 decreased 22% y-o-y to 35,873 t as against 46,100 t in the corresponding period last year (CPLY).

Ferro manganese: Taiwan's imports of ferro manganese increased 39% m-o-m to 6,805 t in April from 4,897 t in March. Malaysia (5,577 t), India (800 t), and Vietnam (396 t) were the top exporters.
However, total imports fell 30% y-o-y to 22,440 t in January through April of this year compared to 32,206 t in the same period last year.

Ferro chrome: Ferro chrome imports increased significantly m-o-m to 13,739 t in April from 4,676 t in March, a 194% increase. The top exporters were South Africa (6,997 t), India (3,278 t), and Mozambique (2,000 t).
However, ferro chrome imports over January-April 2023 fell 46% to 35,830 t from 65,933 t seen during the same period last year.


Ferro silicon: Import volumes of ferro silicon increased 29% m-o-m to 6,648 t in April as compared to 5,160 t in March. The major exporters were China (2,517 t) and Norway (1,590 t).
Meanwhile, imports over January-April, 2023 fell 14% y-o-y to 24,130 t compared with 27,992 t in CPLY.
