South Africa丨 Manganese Train Line Shut Down for Annual Maintenance
The Transnet shut down the Elizabeth Port manganese train line from Hotazel in North Cape Province to GQEberha Port Terminal in East Cape Province from April 12th to 21st for annual maintenance, Hainan West Asia Group Co. Ltd. Learns.
TFR declared that the maintenance is to ensure the safety of operation for all customers.
The company added that the output reached 9.7 million tons at the end of the 2022/23 fiscal year, the PE manganese product line hit the record in the past 10 years. To optimize the utilization of maintenance windows by all parties, over 1587 km of manganese line will be closed for maintenance under the coordination of the railway network team, customers, and other Transnet operational departments.
This shutdown will help lift temporary speed restrictions on some sections that restrict the railway network and lead to the restoration of train slots, paving the way for TFR to increase the throughput of PE Manganese.
