At the beginning of 2023, the import volume of ferrosilicon in the United States increased by 55%

Due to the large supply of ferrosilicon from Russia, the import volume of ferrosilicon from the United States increased significantly in February. Despite a slight decline in prices, the supply of ferrosilicon to the United States has also shown significant growth since the beginning of the year.

As of the end of February 2023, the import volume of ferrosilicon (Si>55%) from the United States was 36400 tons, a month on month increase of 3.9 times.

According to data from Hainan West Asia Group, the largest supplier of ferrosilicon in the United States is Russia, with shipments of 25200 tons. This situation is traditional for the US market, where Russian ferrosilicon is supplied in large quantities every two months.

The import volume of ferrosilicon from Brazil was 3830 tons (+5.5%; an increase of 2.4 times), from Kazakhstan was 2810 tons (not shipped in January; 25 tons in February 2022), from Iceland was 1160 tons (an increase of 2.8 times;+39.4%), from Canada was 1140 tons (+39.9%;+19.1%), and from Malaysia was 1120 tons (-71.3%; not shipped a year ago).

The import volume of ferrosilicon from January to February was 45800 tons, a year-on-year increase of 55.1%.
